About us
Autonomous Weapons Watch (AWW) is a database of weapons with considerable levels of autonomy. With this initiative, the Future of Life Institute (FLI) aims to inform the general public, journalists and decision makers about current autonomous weapons capabilities.
The database includes weapons in operation in conflict areas, purchased and integrated into military units, and in various stages of experimental development. AWW uses open source data to document these developments. We track and monitor industry announcements and demonstrations as well as military development, procurement and use in conflict zones.
The Future of Life Institute is a global non-profit with a team of 20+ full-time staff operating across the US and Europe. FLI has been working to steer the development of transformative technologies toward benefitting life and away from extreme large-scale risks since its founding in 2014. The organisation has long promoted governance of autonomous weapons systems, and has published several open letters calling for urgent and international legally binding rules.
