Weapons
We consider an autonomous weapon system to be a weapon that is able to select and apply force to targets without human control. Other autonomous capabilities can range from navigation, route tracking, flight/cruise control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
Our database records weapons systems that are advertised or suspected to possess autonomous capabilities specifically in target selection and target engagement (striking). A system that, for example, has an autonomous navigation mode but cannot select a target would not be considered an autonomous weapon system.
